BUILDUP: WATCHER’S CITADEL / BLUE AREA OF THE MOON

Each of you finds yourself suddenly transported here. One moment you were in your normal place and time, leading your normal life. And the next moment, you are here. Where is here? The Watcher’s Citadel on the Blue Area of the Moon. In front of you is a truly giant figure, Uatu the Watcher. He speaks:

Sometimes in the due course of the manifold unfolding of the Marvel Multiverse, there comes a threat so great, so dire to its very existence that something must be done. And that moment has arrived now, at this very instant.

On one earth of many, there has emerged a pivotal battle on one New York City on one of many possible Earths. And on this Earth, this New York City, on this precious reality, the Avengers are discovered missing. Against the very knowledge of my Brothers, I have assembled you as a team to replace them so that you can restore balance to the necessary order of the very multiverse itself. 

Do you have any questions for me before we begin? Make it brief, since our time is so very short and the consequences for your failure so very grave.

The Watcher will answer any questions they may ask. If they try to act against him in any way, he will wave his hand and they will be instantly transported instantly into the Battle for New York City in-progress. Otherwise, he will do so when they are satisfied that they are ready.

ACTION SCENE: MIDTOWN MANHATTAN

Scene Distinctions: Destruction of Property, Mass Confusion, Panicked Bystanders

Opposition

• The “Other” who is equipped with Mind Stone in his staff.
• Chitauri Mob (Cost: D8 to activate); Start with one in play
• Chitauri Hero (Cost: D10 to activate); None to start.

Special Rule: Heroes may proceed to Action Scene: Midair at any time by making a successful action against the Doom Pool. If all the heroes leave the scene before the “Other” is defeated, advance the Destruction Timer by one step automatically.

ACTION SCENE: MIDAIR

Scene Distinctions: High Speed Chase, Mass Confusion, Skyscrapers Galore!

Opposition

• Ebon Maw
• Chitauri Fliers (Cost: D8 to activate); Start with one in play.
• Leviathan (Cost: D10 to activate); Start with one in play.

Special Rule: Heroes may proceed to Action Scene: Top of the World making a successful action against the Doom Pool. If all the heroes leave the scene before the “Other” is defeated, advance the Destruction Timer by one step automatically.

ACTION SCENE: TOP OF THE WORLD

Scene Distinctions: Cascading Energy Beam, Extradimensional Threat, Stark Tech

Opposition

• Thanos
• Chitauri Fliers (Cost: D8 to activate); None to start.
• Leviathan (Cost: D10 to activate); None to start.

Special Rule: If the Destruction Timer is at D12 at the end of any round, the Heroes lose and New York City is destroyed. The heroes automatically win if Thanos is defeated and the portal closed. If the Doom Pool reaches 2D12 before the heroes defeat Thanos, again they lose.
